Red Crossbills 3-23-2013

Visit my Smugmug Gallery

Sometimes its better to be lucky than good. Like today,  I was pulling weeds and I looked up into my well-trimmed cottonwood and there was a nice female-looking red crossbill.  The bird was eying my water feature, and sure enough, she came down for an extended drink.

A few minutes later BJ Stacy called me, he had a flock of about 12 at the end of my street that had flown in my direction.

The last time that I recall that red crossbills were reported in Jacumba was back in November.

This is a pretty good yard bird!

    Hi Eric,

I love your blog! I learned so much wonderful history re: Jacumba. Who knew? Now I do! It is great that you have the water feature , etc. for our bird friends. Thanks for providing for them.

    Gretchen
