Welcome to Jacumba – Part 2

This post is just about the town – not birding.

Several tubs have been installed – and then removed – at the swamp.  The first one that I noticed was a large wood-lined hot tub, photo below. It lasted until about July 2012.  The smaller bath tub may have preceded the big one.  I dunno. In any event, after the San Diego Reader publicized the big tub it was removed and the small bath tub took its place.

Here’s the bath tub in its glory.  It stayed around until about February 2013. I’m surprised that someone didn’t haul it down to the lake and paddle around in it.

Here’s the final tub.  It lasted about a week before the water was turned off and it was hauled away.

The new improved tub. This one didn't last long!

A 1948 DeSoto Custom Club Coupe slowly deteriorates in a Jacumba yard. This could be a great restoration project. Three-speed on-the-column and a 6-cylinder flathead.  DeSoto was a division of Chrysler. This car cost $1874 new.  For comparison, a 1948 Chevy Sport Coup listed at $1402, and a 1948 Buick Roadmaster “Sedanette” was $2297. The last model year for this make was 1961.

And last November below – the lake looks higher here, but that is an illusion based upon the photo’s vantage.
