Warbling Vireo

The fall migration seems to have started a bit early this year.  Last week Trent Stanley & I found a pair of warbling vireos at the swamp. On Sunday August 4, 2013 I found a female-type lazuli bunting, also at the swamp. Yesterday I found a pair of adult male western tanagers at my bird bath.  And today there were four Wilson’s warblers and one warbling vireo at the swamp.

Migrant hummers are right on time this year with many rufous/Allens and Black-chinnned all feeding at my hummingbird feeders.

Orioles, especially hooded orioles, seem to be lined up in the trees in my yard, waiting their turn at the jelly feeder.  I’m not sure if there guys are in migration, but there seems to be an unusually large numbers of this species.  A few female-type Bullock’s orioles are seen at my feeders, but in small numbers.  Scott’s orioles have been absent for several weeks.
